Atmakaraka means our own self


Karaka means significantor and Atma means soul..The Atmakaraka planet or soul planet is the one we have the most karma to work with in this life.There are two types of Atmakaraka.,The natural Atmakaraka and the movable Atmakaraka(chara atmakaraka) .There are total nights planets (sun moon mercury mars, venus, Jupiter, Saturn rahu and ketu) can be Atmakaraka depending on the degree in the birth chart. The planet having the highest degree is considered to be the chal Atmakaraka. Sun is considered to be the natural Atmakaraka in all birth charts as the sun has complete influence on the human body. The chara Atmakaraka are the planets which has the highest degree of all planets in birth chart  ketu cannot and should not be considered as movable Atmakaraka as it  the significantor of moksha which is the ultimate goal.

Points to be noted

Rahu always moves backward and therefore his degrees are calculated backward as well..

Ketu is not excluded as Atmakaraka out of 9 planets, rahu is included, but 30 degrees are to be deducted to determine the karaka position of rahu

Sun as Ak. --Father, authority, respect, power, ego --Let go our ego.

Moon As Ak -Mother emotional, sensitive, -Should not be dependent on others for moral or any support.

: Jupiter As Ak -Guru, teacher, mentor, child - Respect others beliefs and religious beliefst and dont impose ur beliefs to others

: Saturn as Ak ------spirituality, karma, Hardwork. ----Should understand others feelings and sorrows and should not be reason of others sufferings.

Mars As Ak ---courage, bravery warrior - - - - Should take their defeats gracefully and should not boost or show their stregth to others for self pride.

Venus as Ak - romance - pleasure, comforts, beauty - - - - _should have a neat character and should refrain from illegimate affairs, lust and desires.

Saturn as Ak -----spirituality, karma, Hardwork ----should understand others feelings and sorrows and should not be reason for others sufferings.
